Other Treatment Options

We offer surgical orthodontics and treatment options for TMD/TMJ at our Merrick location.

Our clinic provides a range of treatment options to ensure every patient has a clear path to a healthy, happy smile. Discover some of our other treatment options below.

TMD/TMJ Treatment

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders affect the jaw joint and surrounding muscles, causing symptoms such as jaw pain, clicking or popping sounds, headaches, and difficulty opening or closing the mouth. Over time, the muscles and ligaments supporting the TMJ can become strained or injured, leading to misalignment of the lower jaw.

Treatment options for TMJ conditions may include a night guard, splint, or braces to adjust the bite. A night guard helps relieve strain on the TMJ by allowing it to gradually return to its proper position. If you experience jaw pain, teeth grinding, or jaw clenching, braces can help realign your teeth, easing TMJ pain and discomfort.

Orthognathic Surgery

In cases where orthodontic issues are too severe, we may recommend surgical orthodontics, also known as orthognathic surgery. This treatment option addresses significant jaw discrepancies and misalignments that cannot be corrected with orthodontic treatment alone.

Whenever possible, we strive to treat these problems without resorting to surgery. However, there are times when surgery is necessary. Orthognathic surgery is used to correct orthodontic issues that appliances alone cannot fully address. Patients with conditions such as severe overbites, underbites, or uneven jaw growth may benefit from this procedure.

Technology-Enabled Orthodontics

In-Office 3D Printing

Using 3D printing technology, we can convert your digital dental scan data into a precise model of your teeth. This means our practice no longer needs to take messy impressions to create aligners, retainers, or other appliances.

TRIOS 3D Light Scanning

We prioritize your comfort throughout your orthodontic journey, which is why we offer TRIOS digital impressions. This intraoral scanner is compatible with all our treatments and helps shorten both appointment and treatment times.
